About Cyber :
<< Soulker and I started working on the Cyber Drum Kit in April-May last year. He invited me on his new project and I of course accepted, we had been working together for a long time and had built a really solid relationship. We slowly grew closer and at one point, I saw him as a brother.
He was already hospitalized while he finished his part of the project. It was the last thing he ever worked on, and what he thought about in his final days, before he was taken from us by a deadly meningitis on July 11th, 2023.
We also discussed our plans for the project the last time we talked on the phone on July 4th. He talked to me about his frustration and how music was the only thing that helped him escape the pain of his illness. He wanted to learn piano to extend his abilities because he felt like he had already squished all of the juice out of beatmaking.
A year ago we worked together, back to back, to complete this kit. We were millimeters away from the finish line, and then everything got cut off suddenly.
Today, it’s full circle.
Perfect timing.
The task is finally done. After all the trials and tribulations, Mrs. Purcell (Martin’s mum) and I have put the puzzle back together.
Until his last breath, Martin stayed true to himself. He didn’t do anything to please others, didn’t seek anyone’s validation. He was his own man. He was kind, talented and ambitious. I will forever follow his example. I don’t care how long it takes, how much I have to sacrifice. I will do what I like, and that’s music. Just like my bro. If there was one thing Soulker didn’t like it was a quitter. He knew all it takes to make it is to never, EVER, quit.
I have made a promise and today, on his birthday, I’m standing by it.
As long as I exist, Soulker will be remembered.
That means I can never quit. Because that would mean betraying myself and my brother. He believed in me more than I did myself.
So to whoever reads this, I believe in you. Don’t give up on yourself. Fight against the current and MAKE IT.
We are all together in this, under the everlasting memory of Soulker.
Keep it alive.
This is my gift to you, my role model in music and in life. Today, on your day, this is how I honor you.
